FOKUS Clan Enter Counter-Strike with International Roster Led by kuben and ztr

German org FOKUS Clan makes their Counter-Strike debut with an international lineup coached by Virtus.pro and ENCE veteran kuben, featuring ex-GamerLegion IGL ztr and rising AWP talent Jorko.

German esports organization FOKUS Clan have officially announced their expansion into Counter-Strike, unveiling an international lineup assembled by legendary Polish coach Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński. The project marks a significant step for an organization already established in Fortnite and EA FC, and signals serious ambitions in CS2.

The Roster

The team is captained by Swedish IGL Erik "ztr" Gustafsson, who brings top-tier experience from his time leading GamerLegion to two Major appearances and a peak of 9th in the world rankings. ztr was benched by GamerLegion in December in favor of Snax, and now gets the chance to build something from the ground up.

Joining him are Romanian rifler Sebastian "volt" Maloș, Croatian player Mateo "Matheos" Prišlin, and Finnish talent Matias "Banjo" Kivistö. The headline signing, however, is 17-year-old Bulgarian AWPer Georgi "Jorko" Mitev, who represents one of the most exciting young prospects in European Counter-Strike.

The coaching staff features kuben as head coach alongside Polish assistant coach Kacper "kapibe" Burda.

kuben Returns After 18 Months

The appointment of kuben is arguably the biggest story here. The Polish coaching legend returns to competitive Counter-Strike after nearly 18 months on the sidelines following his departure from ENCE in late 2024. Before that, kuben spent years coaching the iconic Virtus.pro Golden Five lineup through some of Counter-Strike's most memorable eras.

His stint with ENCE alongside gla1ve showed flashes of brilliance — including wins over G2 and Vitality at their debut event — but ultimately fell apart due to what kuben described as differences in vision and individual underperformance. Now refreshed and motivated, kuben found the right opportunity to return in FOKUS.

Why This Matters

FOKUS Clan is not a typical newcomer to esports. The German organization boasts over $300,000 in Fortnite earnings and a strong presence in EA FC, demonstrating they know how to build and sustain competitive rosters. Their entry into Counter-Strike with an experienced coach like kuben and a proven IGL in ztr suggests this is not a short-term experiment.

The roster blends experience with youth across five different nationalities, a formula that has worked for teams like GamerLegion and Monte in recent years. With ztr's tactical foundation, kuben's strategic depth, and Jorko's raw mechanical talent, FOKUS have the ingredients to make noise in the European circuit.

What to Expect

Don't expect FOKUS to challenge for S-tier titles immediately — this is a development project with a long-term vision. But the combination of proven leadership and young talent means they could climb the rankings quickly if the chemistry clicks. Keep an eye on their first official matches to see how kuben's system takes shape with this roster.
